Posted On : 13 December 2025Vendor Assessment in GeM is applicable for OEMs and resellers based on their credentials, manufacturing capacity, financials, and technical capabilities. This process allows only qualified and capable vendors to participate in government procurement. VA helps in establishing a trusted and competent vendor base on the GeM portal.
The Gem vendor assessment by RITES Portal is conducted for Desktop assessment with vendor documents and credentials verification. The second stage is the Video Assessment or on-site evaluation, where the vendor’s capabilities are verified in detail. Gem Vendor Assessment is mandatory for all vendors except the exempted categories.
After completing the vendor assessment gem, vendors get the OEM certificate. They can manage resellers, upload catalogues, and oversee secondary users. OEMs also have the authority to discontinue catalogues when necessary.
GeM vendor qualification guidelines are adjusted based on specific industry requirements or additional criteria as per organization’s requirement. This ensures that the Vendor Assessment process evaluates both OEMs and resellers to meet the standards required for government procurement.
