GeM Portal Registration is entirely free, allowing sellers to join without any charges. To ensure quality and discipline, GeM requires a security deposit called GeM Caution Money. Additionally, GeM Transaction Charges are applied to sustain platform operations and services, making GeM a reliable and efficient marketplace for government procurement.
Post-GeM registration, sellers are required to submit GeM caution money based on their turnover before listing products or bidding on tenders. The amount varies according to the seller’s turnover category.
* Earlier Caution money for turnover less than 1 Crore was Rs. 5,000
Sellers like SHG, Artisans, Weavers, MSE Women and MSE (SC/ST) are exempted from the Caution Money
As per GeM Revenue Policy, sellers with total sales exceeding ₹20 lakh annually must pay a one-time Annual Milestone Charge of ₹10,000 + taxes. Additionally, sellers crossing this milestone are also required to pay GeM Transaction Charges.
These charges support platform operations, ensuring efficient procurement processes while enabling sellers to thrive on the GeM portal.
Orders up to ₹10 lakh and those received before crossing ₹20 lakh in total annual sales are exempt from charges.
